IN CONVERSATION WITH... CARLA ZAPF, INFINEON TECHNOLOGIES

Carla Zapf, Manager Travel and Mobility Projects, Infineon Technologies is hosting a buyer
only masterclass at 1635 on Tuesday 21 February at the Business Travel Show: Realign your
travel programme after company mergers, acquisitions and divestments. To register for a

Please sum up your conference session in one sentence.
Facing the challenge of a company merger or acquisition it’s not only about travel policies, travel service providers, contracts and hotel programmes. We must manage in addition different system landscapes and processes, from HR Master Data to Accounting and Finance activities. And you will need to cope with different cultures, travel behaviours and expectations.

Why is it a must-attend for travel managers?
Take the opportunity to catch some valuable experience if you have the task in front of you. Or share what you feel is important when managing mergers. The quality of the integration project has a huge effect. So, enlarge or create your network in travel management, even if it is not your daily work, to prepare you when managing this challenge.

I am happy to share my experiences out of several integration activities. I hope to provide a benefit to all who will have a similar challenge in front of them, while being able to extend my own network and find sources of inspiration.

There has to be more than price in airline procurement.

What is the biggest challenge facing the business travel industry this year and why?
Digitalisation is disrupting current business models for TMC´s and travel suppliers in general.

Always a refreshing insight.

Why is it a must-attend for travel managers?
It is an excellent opportunity to network, the educational seminars are great and gives you a chance to exchange ideas.

What is the biggest challenge facing the business travel industry this year and why?
The uncertainty of the economy and security issues.

And what is the biggest opportunity for travel managers and why?
Travel procurement is one of those indirect costs that has a big effect in the company's balance sheets. If you manage to secure great savings it makes a huge and satisfactory impact.

Interrupters/sharing economy suppliers – a help or a hindrance?
Change is inevitable, especially as people travel more and incorporate their habits into business travel. Therefore, you must find a way to incorporate this into your programme

How will Brexit affect your job?
Currently, it's business as usual. The world is bigger than Brexit. However, the uncertainty means that future investment projects go on hold.

Why are you looking forward to speaking at/attending the Business Travel Show?
It's always great to see old faces and meet new ones. In addition, you get news on what is happening in the industry. Always lots to learn.

How do we find you on Twitter?
